57f764e42017 GRIZZLY GROWL HOCKEY TOURNAMENT VILLAGE SPORTS ICE ARENA

ROCHESTER, NY JANUARY 20TH, 21ST  & 22ND 2017

GOAL OF THE TOURNAMENT:

The Grizzly Growl mission is to provide an atmosphere of fun, competitive hockey at the 2007 Squirt Minor hockey level. The Grizzly Growl committees hope is that our visiting families will enjoy a true youth hockey experience in a family friendly environment and city.

COMPETITION LEVEL:

The tournament will be geared toward upper level/elite AA hockey teams based on the skill level of teams in Western New York.

GAME FORMAT:

Each team will be guaranteed four (4) games. The teams will be divided into two brackets. The teams that enter the tournament will be researched and placed in the divisions to make both divisions as equal as possible.

The games will consist of three (3) 12 minute stop time periods. The teams will be allowed 3 minutes to warm up on the ice before the game. Teams must be ready to go on the ice 15 minutes prior to the start of their scheduled games.

All games will be played at Village Sports Ice Arena. The rink is located at 2830 Baird Rd, Fairport, NY 14450.

Games will be scheduled once the teams/brackets are set. Special consideration will be made for out-of-town teams to limit the number of nights they need to stay in the hotel. The championship games will be played on Sunday, early enough to allow for our out of town guests to have safe daytime travel home.

A MVP puck will be awarded to one player from each team after each game is finished. The MVP will be selected by the opposing teams coaching staff.

TOURNAMENT SCORING:

Points for each game will be awarded based on 2-1-0 scoring basis. Two points for a win, one point for a tie and zero for a loss. Tie breakers in the divisions will be based on a goals for/goal against ratio that will be calculated for the teams after each game. The final ratio will be based on ALL four games the teams play in.

The top team from each division will play in the championship game. The second place team from each division will play in a consolation game.

RULES:

The games will follow USA Hockey rules for the Squirt Minor level of play in Western New York. Full rules for the tournament will be distributed to the teams two weeks prior to the start of the tournament. USA Hockey Sanctioning #NYT1617111.
