Otters win 3rd straight

The Erie Otters got just their third road win tonight in North Bay by the final score of 2-1, in regulation, snapping a 14-game losing streak on the road. Otters received goals from Emmett Sproule and Maxim Golod. Shots on goal were even at 32 a piece by the end of 60.

The Battalion got on the scoreboard first, just under five minutes into play, from Brandon Coe. Just over a minute later, Sproule evened the score at 1-1, Yetman picking up the assist on the tying goal.

Near the halfway point of the game, Maxim Golod scored top shelf on Sime to take the lead at 2-1. Ivan Lodnia and Josh Wainman picked up the assists on the game-winning goal. Minutes later, Jack Duff took the only penalty of the game, a Holding call that the Otters were able to kill effectively.

Anand Oberoi made 31 saves in net to defend the Otters’ 2-1 lead for a very nice 0.969 save percentage on the night. Oberoi recorded his first OHL shutout Dec. 16, 2017 over the North Bay Battalion, and picked up first star of the night in the road win in North Bay tonight. The Battalion’s Brandon Coe (1G) was second star, followed by Maxim Golod (1G) as 3rd star for the Otters.

The Otters play tomorrow night in Sudbury, 7:05pm puck drop.
