The Erie Otters won their sixth straight home game Saturday night against the Sudbury Wolves, by the final score of 4-1. Taylor Raddysh had two goals in the win. The Otters held the Wolves to only 19 total shots on goal.
Cade Robinson netted the Otters’ first goal halfway through the first period from in close on Jake McGrath. Max Golod brought the puck out from behind the net and Robinson was able to get his stick on it and put it in. Golod and Gritz picked up the assists on the 1-0 goal. Taylor Raddysh scored late in the first off of Poddubnyi’s rebound to make it 2-0. Lodnia picked up the second assist on Raddysh’s goal. Erie outshot Sudbury by a factor of two at the end of 20 minutes.
Taylor Raddysh netted his second goal of the night at 13:47 in the second period, assisted by Maksimovich and Martin. Shortly thereafter, Joe Mack and Darian Pilon got into a fist fight with under 5 to go in the period. Pilon received a two-minute minor for Blindsiding, an Instigator minor, a Fighting major, and a ten-minute game misconduct for Instigating. Joe Mack received a Cross Checking minor and a five-minute major for Fighting. Erie held Sudbury to just three SOGs in the 2nd.
The Wolves finally got on the board early in the third period with a goal from Troy Lajuenesse. Following the play, Baker and Golod get into a scrum that sends Golod off for Roughing, all under two minutes into the 3rd. Carson Edwardson scored at 8:31, assisted by Josh Wainman, to put the Otters up 4-1. The Wolves subsequently made a goaltending change, pulling McGrath and putting David Bowen in net for the remainder of the game. Nine more penalties were called before the end of the period, but the score remained at 4-1, Otters.
Taylor Raddysh picked up the first star of the night with his two goal performance. Cade Robinson was second star, and Carson Edwardson was third star, both with a goal each.
The Otters play next on the morning of November 1, against the Kitchener Rangers who handed them their only loss on home ice this season. The game will be at 10:30am at the Erie Insurance Arena.
