Mlakar Steps Down as President, Alternate Governor

Erie, Pennsylvania – Erie Otters President and Alternate Governor Roy Mlakar announced today that he will be stepping down from his position and leaving the organization for health-related issues. Erie Otters Owner Jim Waters will assume the role of President of the organization effective immediately.

“I have enjoyed working alongside Roy for the past three seasons,” Erie Otters Owner Jim Waters said, “we will always cherish the memory of winning the OHL championship together in 2017. In the grand scheme of things health is more important than hockey, and Roy needs to take the time to get well, not only for himself but for his family. The entire Erie Otters organization wishes him well.”

Mlakar, a 67-year-old Parma, Ohio native, has spent the previous three seasons with the Erie Otters organization as the local executive for JAW Hockey Enterprises under Jim Waters’ ownership, and was named President and Alternate Governor of the team this past October. Under his guidance the team has seen record growth in sponsorship sales and attendance numbers, while capturing the franchise’s second Ontario Hockey League championship in May 2017.
